Mrs. R.O. (Sarah) BackhousePerianth and other petaloid segments in several whorls, opening pale greenish yellow, becoming creamy white; the outer whorl broadly ovate, blunt, only very slightly mucronate, spreading, overlapping half; the inner whorls as broad as the outer whorl, a little shorter, slightly inflexed, creased or with margins incurling; the center whorl fewer than six in number, much shorter, narrow, strongly inflexed; the corona segments one-third the length of the inner whorls of petaloid segments and loosely interspersed among them, more tightly clustered at center, deep vivid reddish orange, deeply frilled.
Believed to be named after a romantic Victorian novel set in Indonesia.
